Welcome to Class 1

Class Teacher: Mrs R Turner

Learning Support: Mrs C Martine and Mrs S-J Ruthwell

We are an enthusiastic class of 14 amazing learners in a mixed Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Year 1 and 2 class with children aged 4, 5, 6 and 7 years old. In Class 1, we have access to an exciting and engaging learning environment in our inside and outside areas. Each child is special and a valued member of Class 1 and deserves an approach towards their education which best suits them and we strive to meet those needs every day.

Read and sharing books is part of our ethos! Children are encouraged to read at home with grownups regularly as well as adult with in school. Each half term we have a variety of Class texts that link to our current learning.

We have Forest Friday every other week led by Mrs Ruthwell in our outdoor learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to explore in the Mud kitchen, observe and be hands on with nature and have fun with their friends surrounded by trees! We even get the chance to cook tasty snacks on our campfire!

Our P.E. sessions are:

Wednesday am- Mrs Turner teaches us running and jumping skills through simple Circuits

Thursday pm- Mrs Turner teaches us balance and coordination through Yoga

Each half term the children in Year 1 and 2 are given a spelling home practice booklet ready for their test on Monday and EYFS children practice their initial sounds and letter formation to support with their reading.
